Processional Songs: Fall 2019

This post was contributed by Elizabeth Davenport, Poppy Lane Events’ Summer 2019 Intern

Ah, the processional song. You’re probably thinking right about now, “I have no clue where to start” or perhaps you have an idea of what kind of sound you are searching for. Either way, Poppy Lane Events is here to help! When it comes to finding the perfect processional song, it can be a bit overwhelming. However, you cannot go wrong if you go with your gut.

A processional song is supposed to fit the bride and groom, so I suggest finding a song that means something to you. Whether you are wanting a tear-jerking moment or not, there is bound to be at least a few tears as your party makes their way down the aisle. So, see if you can imagine yourself walking down the aisle to any one of the following tunes.

“First Day Of My Life” by Bright Eyes

This song is more on the modern side when it comes to processional songs. This song has a sweet and catchy beat for couples who are wanting a more modern flare. Furthermore, how cute would it be to look eyes with your significant other as the lyrics “yours is the first face that I saw” when making your way down the aisle. This one is bound to jerk a few tears.

From the Album: I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning

Lyrics You’ll Love: Yours is the first face that I saw/I think I was blind before I met you

“Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Ingrid Michaelson

Ingrid’s voice is a sweet rendition of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can’t Help Falling in love.” This song is sure to set the tone as your wedding party makes their way down the aisle. This song is full of romance from the melody to the lyrics. Furthermore, as this song is covered by many artists, I would suggest possibly choosing an artist who covers the song who is special to you and your fiancé. Either way you choose, this song is sure to make hearts flutter as you start your new life with your significant other.

From the Album: Be OK

Lyrics You’ll Love: Like a river flows surely to the sea/Darling so it goes/Some things are meant to be/So take my hand, and take my whole life too/Cause I can't help falling in love with you

“Your Song” by Elton John

This well-known hit is sure to make not only you fall in love, but your guests will as well. From your older guests to the youngest tot there, “Your Song” by Elton John is always a classic choice.

From the Album: Elton John

Lyrics You’ll Love: It's a little bit funny this feeling inside /I'm not one of those who can easily hide, I/Don’t have much money but boy if I did/I’d buy a big house where we both could live

“When I Said I Do” by Clint Black

This one is for all the country fans out there. This sweet, tangy melody is perfect for your wedding party’s walk down the aisle. Country lovers will swoon as they hear this incredible duet about a devoted couple who has found true love. Rest assured, this song will leave not one dry eye in the crowd.

From the Album: Clint Black Greatest Hits II

Lyrics You’ll Love: When I said I do, I meant that I will/Til’ the end of all time/Be faithful and true, devoted to you/That’s what I had in mind, when I said I do

“Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy

If your wedding airs on the more formal side, I suggest you stick with a traditional and classical wedding processional song. No matter what song you chose, you can’t go wrong. Everyone will be familiar with the traditional wedding ceremony songs and it’s what many guests will be expecting. Furthermore, most classical wedding songs have crescendos that can be used for your grand entrance (how perfect!).

From the Album: Clair de Lune – single, 2014

Lyrics You’ll Love: Instrumental

So, try to imagine the song that will play before your grand entrance. Do you have a song

chosen? Rest assured that no matter what song you choose, it’s bound to be special!

Cheers to making the most out of your wedding party’s trip down the aisle,

Elizabeth
